Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Job Number:423828)
Sr. level Provide professional technical engineering support for the new entrant certification of the Launch Enterprise Directorate. This support includes, but is not limited to:
: Develop audit processes in compliance with government certification requirements, conduct audits and verification of implementation of launch service provider quality and manufacturing processes for flight critical items, and build summaries and reports capturing findings, including process and procedure shortcomings and noncompliance. Conduct day:to:day surveillance and reporting of activities launch vehicle manufacturing facilities. Support and evaluate pre:ship reviews, corrective action reviews, test plan reviews, and issue and change management systems. Routinely report status of efforts and launch service provider progress; consolidate summary risks; and support government reviews.
: Performing assessments, evaluations, and analyses,
: Document/communicate issues, findings, observations, and opportunities for improvement
: Develop and execute audit plans, audit checklists, and audit reports to address manufacturing engineering per applicable industry standards, and/or New Entrant company standards.
: Document findings and develop and track their root causes and corrective actions.
: Must have excellent communications skills in order to participate in Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDRs and CDRs), Engineer Review Boards (ERBs) and Chief Engineer Review Boards (ChERBs) for manufacturing.
: Identify and assess product design and manufacturing processes requirements for a manufacturing baseline to include special tooling, process proofing (qualifications), standards, methods, procedures, metrics, and data.
: Assess flow down of critical and key design requirements and characteristics to manufacturing requirements and their implementation in the process for manufacturing.
: Verify /validate that manufacturing/producibility approaches/processes are developed/correlated with the critical design.
: Perform manufacturing process audits on selected flight critical items and flight critical processes.
: Develop technical content of audit checklists for manufacturing process and assess use/implementation of industry standards in the process for manufacturing and management.
: Assess facility capacity, process proofing, manufacturing controls, manufacturing and production readiness, and vendor/supplier control requirements for manufacturing.
: Verify/validate that the prime contractor performs and documents Physical Configuration Audits (PCA), hardware acceptance reviews, and /or equivalent functions, as required.
: Verify/ validate the LSP as:built documentation reconciles with the as:designed documentation.
: Verify/validate the as:built configuration of the major components being shipped (e.g. Booster Assembly, Upper Stage Assembly, and Avionics Tower) against the ABCL (As:Built Configuration List) for Vulcan certification.
: Verify/validate that the work being performed out:of:position for production (i.e. work that should have been performed at the factory but was performed at the launch site instead) is in accordance with approved procedures.
: Ability to assess configuration change control management system for production.
: Capable of providing inputs to major reports and briefings (i.e. audit reports, certification status briefings, CCB briefings, etc.) for manufacturing.
: Capable of providing and performing factory surveillance and manufacturing issues support for certification.
: Verify/validate that prime contractor is tracking and resolving those issues, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
: Excellent Verbal/Communication skills
Education and Experience:
: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or mathematics field;
: Minimum of 12 year
