Job Description SummaryManage department operations and personnel including Coaches, Engineering, and support personnel. Ensure the ultimate objective of 100% up-time and zero product defects at optimum cost. Drive implementation of plant goals in operations and meet cost improvment plans.

Job Description

1. Provide safe working environment to prevent employees from injury. Ensure on-going safety and GMP training occurs at all levels of the organization. Ensure accident investigation procedures are followed and re-enforce safety audits. Institute policies to minimize environmental waste.

2. Manage all production activities to ensure the production schedule is met.

3. Plan and establish the yearly department budget for all activities and controls within the department. Work with the Platform Teams to develop forecasts and develop responses to changes in budgeted volumes and dollars to ensure goals are met and variances are justified.

4. Manage all production activities to ensure established quality specifications are met.

5. Manage or coordinate the engineering functions to ensure reliability and up-time of equipment is at a maximum.

6. Manage production activities to ensure scrap loss standards are met, while striving to reduce them to zero.

7. Directly supervise Coaches, Area Engineers, and Maintenance Associates according to the organizational structure.

8. Interpret and administer company policies as necessary.

9. Provide department training programs for the production employees.

10. Provide growth and development opportunities for employees by providing calibrated performance reviews, training, coaching, and succession planning.

11. Ensure equipment capacity and human resource needs are planned and carried out in order to meet the production volume requirements.

12. Support World Wide Manufacturing personnel to ensure smooth implementation of all new products, processes and equipment changes, as well as, transfers to other BD locations.

13. Review and approve applicable new and revised task documents and specifications.

14. Collaborate with the Sustaining Engineering and Quality Assurance departments to improve quality and reduce costs.

15. Participate and lead improvement teams as necessary.

16. Manage department ESC and participate as a member of the plant ESC.

17. Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.

18. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

19. Other duties as assigned.
