**Details**
The School of Dance in the College of Fine Arts at the University of Utah invites applicants for a one\\-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in our Ballet Program, to begin August 2018\\.
The Ballet Program is in an exciting period of growth with the largest number ofBFAin Ballet students in history, a recently updated curriculum that balances physical practice with academic rigor, and a reinvigoratedMFAin Ballet program\\. As such, we seek candidates who demonstrate an in\\-depth knowledge of ballet from classical to contemporary iterations\\. Successful candidates must demonstrate an understanding of the teaching demands for tenure in a research university and must clearly communicate a personal research agenda that clearly contributes to the continued development of the field of ballet as a site of creative and/or scholarly inquiry\\.
Qualified candidates must: 1\\) have anMFAand/or commensurate professional experience in the field of dance; 2\\) have at least three years of experience teaching ballet at a pre\\-professional level; 3\\) exhibit expertise in teaching ballet technique, men s class, and partnering; and 4\\) have experience in either ballet choreography or re\\-staging repertoire\\.
As a full\\-time faculty member, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the program through teaching, committee work, curriculum development, faculty governance, and the administrative life of the School of Dance\\.
Special consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate one or more of the following: experience staging repertoire from the classical canon; experience staging work from an established choreographer; experience as a choreographer\\. The School of Dance is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in education through their teaching and service\\.

The internationally acclaimed School of Dance offers a comprehensive program of study in two concentrations \\(Ballet and Modern Dance\\) and maintains a balanced emphasis on both performance and scholarship while presenting students with the training necessary to excel within their chosen field\\. The School s student body is comprised of approximately 200 undergraduates and 20 graduate students seeking the following degrees:BFA,HBFA, andMFA\\.
