Oldcastle Mountain West Division of Oldcastle Materials, Inc., a division of Oldcastle, has operations in Utah, Idaho (southern), Nevada, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. The Mountain West Division provides hot:mix asphalt, aggregates, ready mixed concrete, and sand and gravel products. It takes pride in the large role it plays in building and maintaining infrastructure in this region.
Position Overview
This position will implement and manage the Transportation initiatives for the West Division. This position will focus on improving delivery efficiency, testing and implementing electronic payroll, electronic log books, hours of service, daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIR), driving safety improvements and customer satisfaction. This role will interact with several lines of business to improve delivery efficiency and reduce delivery costs. This position will be responsible and accountable for developing and refining tools and processes that will help our transportation teams throughout the West with strategies designed to maximize efficiencies and profit margins across their business units. This position will work collaboratively with Region Presidents, GMs other Performance Managers to provide and assist with continued transportation education and skill development/expansion. This role will guide the development of best practices from inside the division that can be shared locally and on a national level to help our transportation teams across the division and country.
Key Responsibilities
:Champion safety improvements through engagement and sharing across the division
:Provide guidance and support to the transportation teams : setting key focus areas, targets, and metrics annually
:Advocate use of transportation performance tools within the division
:Provide processes, and measurements in the division that will provide buy:in, collaboration and execution
:Improve transportation performance management through creation, training and adoption of key performance indicators
:Responsible for the advancing (local business owner) of IT solutions which support the transportation processes to improve delivery productivity, effectivity and customer satisfaction
:Work closely with the other performance managers across the division. Help in providing a collaborative environment for idea sharing and generation within the performance team
:Measuring, monitoring and reporting on Performance metrics
:Identifying areas for improving consistency and standardization across the division
:Manage the performance of all aspects of the telematics initiative including ELD compliance
:Perform trainings to applicable users to increase engagement and knowledge of the platform capabilities
:Assist with implementing strategy to improve driver behaviors and reduce idle time
:General understanding of all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agencyQualifications:/h3:
:Bachelor of Science, Business or related degree or the equivalent in relevant experience
:5:10 years of experience in the construction industry specifically with a transportation business segment

:Frequent travel to division companies (50 to 75)
