Provides process engineering expertise for assigned unit(s) and/or projects. Identifies long:term improvement opportunities to improve unit(s) profitability and optimize efficiency. Performs process engineering activities in all project phases including feasibility/economic studies, conceptual design, identification and evaluation of alternatives, front:end design, detail engineering, construction and startup/commissioning.
: Supports daily run and maintain of assigned process units by working with Operations and other support groups to proactively identify threats to safe, compliant, and profitable operations. Proposes timely and cost:effective options to eliminate any threats. Top priority is to protect refinerys base competitive position.
: Provides troubleshooting and optimization assistance for Operations. Conducts daily performance monitoring including energy consumption, yields, weight balance, and process unit health performance indicators. Generates, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates performance indicators and unit operations data for assigned units.
: Identifies short: and long:term initiatives to improve business performance through technical and economic analysis using simulation software and other techniques. Learns to exercise judgment in equipment design and process development to compromise between process requirements, economics, operator effectiveness and environment/safety objectives.
: Provides technical input into development and implementation of turnaround scope, operator training, operating manuals, Management of Change (MOC), hazard and operability reviews (HAZOPs) and piping and instrumentation diagram/drawing (P and ID) verification.
: Interfaces with Commercial group to ensure unit constraints and yields are accurately reflected in asset:specific linear programming model and disseminates individual units economic values to Operations and plant management.
: Must have physical ability to perform all essential job duties and work extended hours, including nights and weekends in process operations environment. Work may be conducted during periods of inclement weather. Must have physical ability to access all areas of the plant including use of stairs and/or ladders to inspect critical process and mechanical equipment. Must be available to respond to upset conditions during off:hours.
: Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering required
: Minimum 10 or more years process engineering experience in petrochemical industry required
