Oversees all phases of a project: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of projects. Resolves resources constraints and/or conflicts that affect multiple projects within a program. Aligns organizational/strategic directions to project and program goals and objectives. Builds and maintains working relationships with team members, vendors, and other departments involved in the projects. Ensures project objectives are met and business value obtained. Provides training and mentoring for other project managers. Assist PMO in developing templates, best practices, and training materials. Responsibilities Leads planning and implementation of assigned projects. Organizes and manages programs as assigned. Defines project tasks and resource requirement. Plans and develops project plans and timelines. Tracks project deliverables and monitors budget expenditures using standard project management tools. Continuously monitors and reports on progress and quality activities of the project to all stakeholders. Implements and manages project change management, risk management and mitigation actions to achieve project success. Coordinates and/or facilitates project kick-off meetings, workshops, and other meeting formats within the scope of the project. Performs appropriate project closure that includes evaluation, assessment of results and closure documents. Develop training curriculum and provide training for UIT project managers. Assist in developing templates and best practices. Lead, coach and motivate project team members on a proactive basis. Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalency and at least 7 years of experience in the field or related area. Department Specific Qualifications: 7 years minimum experience in field, 5-8 of those years as a project manager on large cross-functional IT projects Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred Ability to influence and achieve results from individuals and groups without having direct authority Proficient with project management tools. Experience with ServiceNow platform preferred. Strong communication skills (written, oral and listening) with the ability to present effectively to large and small audiences Strong leadership and project management skills Demonstrated use of expert judgment and experience in problem-solving project issues/roadblocks Ability to manage effectively in a cross-functional environment, working closely with all aspects of the business including marketing, operations, infrastructure, academic, finance and information technology Experienced with waterfall and agile project methods and ability to determine best-suited method for a particular project Strong experience in managing large scale IT infrastructure projects including new building construction, fiber optic cable plant installation and/or expansions, network infrastructure, large scale virtualized server environments. Familiarity with other IT infrastructure systems including telephony, enterprise infrastructure services (firewalls, DNS, directory services) and application development methodologies. Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Experience with higher education and/or health care settings preferred.
