VP Area: Academic AffairsDepartment: 00012 - Honors ProgramLocation: CampusCity: Salt Lake City, UTPay Rate Range: 60700 to 85000Open Until Filled: YesJob Summary The Honors College is seeking a highly motivated and experienced development professional to work as part of a dynamic team for college advancement. The professional will engage in development activities involved with the solicitation of donations from individuals, corporations, foundations and government agencies. The position will work directly with the dean to solicit gifts of significant value and developing long-term connections and affinity with the college. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative. Responsibilities Reporting directly to the Dean of the Honors College, the Director of Development will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of advancement for the Honors College, with a particular emphasis on broadening the major gifts pool. Additionally, the ideal candidate will: Work under the direction of the dean to plan strategies and goals to increase fund-raising effectiveness including; corporate gift giving, capital campaigns, planned giving, and annual giving. Build and maintain exceptionally strong relationships with key donors by providing oversight and direction to the National Honors Advisory Board. Seeks opportunities to collaborate and build relationships across campus. Identify and cultivate a prospect pool of alumni donors; plan and execute solicitation strategies leading to ongoing support of the Honors College and building enduring relationships. Collaborate with Central Development when implementing cultivation strategies and methods for individual prospects, including identification of appropriate solicitation timetable, and ask amounts. Ensures appropriate recognition of donors, and oversees donor communication. Demonstrate the ability to meet fundraising goals; exemplary interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team and a passion for higher education. Tracks the solicitation progress and ensures that proper records are kept of each solicitation to avoid duplication of efforts. This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Public Relations, English, or a related field, or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education). Five years experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, business, public relations, annual, corporate or foundation giving which includes two years of budgeting and supervisory experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required. Experience in grant or proposal writing, public speaking, a background working with print and/or electronic media, an understanding of university fundraising practices and personnel management is preferred.
