Position/RankClinical Cytogeneticist RANK DOQDepartment: 00247 - PathologyTrack: Track Dependent on QualificationsNew Position to Begin: ASAPDetails The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah seeks a Clinical Cytogeneticist. The successful candidate will have a faculty appointment in the Department of Pathology with rank based on experience. This faculty member will assume the position of Section Chief of Cytogenetics at ARUP Laboratories. The primary function of this position is the overall responsibility for supervision of clinical and business activities of medical directors within the Cytogenetics section, as well as operational management of the cytogenetic laboratory in partnership with designated operational leadership. Other responsibilities of this position includes interpretation of laboratory results, consultation with physicians, resident and fellow education, and quality control and quality assurance, with the remainder of time supporting the academic and test development projects with the laboratory and Department of Pathology. ARUP is a full service reference laboratory with clients from more than half of the nation's university teaching and children's hospitals, major commercial laboratories, and many community hospitals. As such, the laboratory sees a broad range of specimen types and indications and offers a range of testing options from traditional cytogenetic techniques to FISH and microarray in the constitutional and cancer setting. Applicants require a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree and at least 10 years of experience directing a clinical laboratory. PhD candidates should be board certified in Cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics. The successful applicant will have technical and clinical experience in chromosome analysis, FISH, and microarray. Molecular Genetics board certification and technical expertise in genomics testing by NGS is desirable as is research experience and a record of scholarly publications.
