Job Description Job Location: Northern Nevada/Reno area Job Purpose Seeking an experienced Controller to oversee our accounting department, including but not limited to manufacturing cost accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets. The Controller will be responsible for monitoring general accounting practices, developing internal accounting controls, tracking high volume operations and assets and leading a strong accounting team. The successful candidate for this position will report directly to our Director of Finance and play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company. Primary Role and Responsibilities Manage daily accounting operations, ensuring there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation Create new internal accounting policies and maintain existing policies Monitor emerging technology determining ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability Develop monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams Implement and monitor the month, quarter and year-end closeout accounting schedules; including preparation of monthly financial statements Experience with SOX, internal and external audit functions Responsible for banking and foreign exchange transactions Supervisor Responsibilities Supervise accounting staff Provide direction, support and input on accounting issues/matters Manufacturing Cost Accounting – understanding principles of cost accounting – standard cost system; lower of cost or market inventory valuations; book to physical inventory adjustments; manufacturing variances; labor and overhead rates; scrap and disposal rates. Fixed Assets – support tracking of budget and actual capital expenditure spending; tracking of physical assets; understanding of depreciable lives; lease accounting and any other accounting issue related to assets and depreciation. Accounts Receivable – invoicing, closely monitoring cash receipts, reporting to sales and management of collections. General ledger – provide support on general ledger and financial reporting during month end and quarterly close; reviewing company and divisional financial reporting; tax reporting Review of monthly account reconciliations Management reporting of monthly financial statements (P Balance sheet and cash flow) Quarterly government reporting and subsequent audit Internal Control Develop and actively monitor internal control procedures in compliance with corporate policy. Effectively monitor and apply all internal control procedures within accounting and related areas, ensuring compliance with corporate policies. Coordinate efforts for internal audit Audit Preparation of Audit schedules with proper documentation Coordinate fiscal year end external financial review/audit Lead for any external government audit Education, Experience, and Qualifications BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, CPA preferred Advanced literacy with Microsoft Office, especially Excel spreadsheets and database functions Experience with international accounting (IFRS) a must 7-10 years of direct experience leading an accounting team within a large manufacturing environment Knowledge of SAP, Oracle or another fully integrated ERP system is a must-have Working knowledge of accrual based accounting within a manufacturing environment Understanding and interpreting complex accounting matters, including but not limited to lease accounting and IFRS Desired Qualifications Strong customer service skills including excellent verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills Interprets procedures and governmental regulations Capable of handling confidential information in a responsible manner Responds to inquiries from Operations managers, production control, finance in a timely manner Flexibility and Multi-tasking capabilities Highly organized and able to follow a systematic method of performing a task Ability to collaborate and form teams Ability to work with domestic and international teams Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
